A comprehensive e-book showing how to make a solid state machine is available as a download from the website. The last two machines were solid state controlled by Arduinos and having sound, lighting sequences and scoring. I'm a retired engineer and practising artist and I've have built three pinball machines in the last five years and have video clips, showing them being played, on my website. For a period of time GB Pros were going for $4kish used so it could have been a loss for me instead had I not held onto it.Hi I am Graham Asker. One upshot though I've been in the hobby since the 90s and haven't lost money on a game yet so they do hold their value as long as you are reasonable about buying and selling.įor example I bought a GB Pro NIB in 2016 just sold it for enough to almost completely pay for a GZ Premium. Unfortunately Pinball prices are stupid right now so there's no real magic bullet for saving money, it's going to cost no matter which way you go. One advantage to buying a used machine is if there were any factory defects the original owner has dealt with it. If there's a problem they will usually take care of you pretty quickly. Quality control on these games ain't great which is why I usually recommend buying from a local authorized dealer. Typically when a new hot title gets announced you'll see people dumping older pins to free up space/money but once again it's a weird market right now. I think that's been slowing down a bit but generally I like at least $500 off MSRP otherwise I'll just get it new. You can sometimes shave a few hundred off MSRP by finding a used example locally but prices have been going nuts since pandemic with people paying over MSRP since games are backordered.
